展區與展區之間的角落寫有狄更斯《雙城記》的名句「We had EVERYTHING before us, We had NOTHING before us.」,前路是光明還是黑暗,每個人都有不同解讀。
Malala Yousafzai is a Pakistani human rights activist for female education. In 2012, she was shot by the Taliban on her school bus because she opposed the Taliban’s ban on girls’ education. The terrorist attack has attracted global attention, and luckily she recovered in the following year. In 2014, the 17-year-old Malala became the youngest recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize in recognition of her fight for education rights for Pakistani women.
In 2018, the National Portrait Gallery commissioned Iranian visual artist and filmmaker Shirin Neshat to create portraits for Malala. In the first photo, Malala sitting at the desk, is holding an open book in her hand, with text in the background. In the other picture, Shirin Neshat writes a poem on Malala’s image. Both photos highlight Malala’s contribution to fighting for women’s education rights with the text.
據悉白宮攝影師團隊每星期要拍攝二萬張照片,除了Pete Souza,團隊還有David Lienemann(時任副總統拜登隨身攝影師)及Lawrence Jackson(現任副總統賀錦麗隨身攝影師)。
2020年,他的故事被拍攝成紀錄片《The Way I See It》。
Today is the 60th birthday of former U.S. President Barack Obama. He was never an arrogant and domineering politician because of his unique identity. The former White House photographer Pete Souza captured such a humorous and casual Obama, especially when he meets children, he always happily playing or taking selfies with them. One of the photographer’s favorite photos is Obama carrying the twin boys of The White House’s legislative director Katie Beirne Fallon after being discharged from the hospital. That image is so warm and with paternal love.
Interestingly, on the day of Trump’s inauguration in 2017, Pete Souza began to post Obama’s images on Instagram, which contrasted with Trump’s overbearing impression. On the one hand, it seemed to continue Obama’s charm, and to a certain extent, it was also a critical commentary on the new administration. Now his account has more than 2.9 million followers. In 2020, his story was filmed as a documentary, “The Way I See It.”
Japanese photographer Hayahisa Tomiyasu published his first photo book, TTP(Tischtennisplatte), in 2018, which means Ping-Pong table in German.
Hayahisa Tomiyasu met a fox when he was walking near the dormitory in Leipzig in 2011. He looked forward to the fox by the dormitory window every day, yet it never appeared again. Hayahisa Tomiyasu turned his attention to a table tennis table and photographed what happened around the ping-pong table from his window on the eighth floor.
He photographed the table and its surroundings for five years. People of different skin colors and ages in different seasons and weathers appear under the photographer’s lens because of the table. Some people were sunbathing on the table, some were exercising or drying clothes, and children climb on the table to play, but no one plays table tennis on the table. In the photo book’s last image, a crane slowly hoisted the table, and the TTP story came to an end.
American television sitcom “Friends” first aired in 1994, lasting ten seasons to 2004. It brings us a lot of joy and laughter even today. Seventeen years later, the six friends recently gathered in a special episode, “Friends: The Reunion.” They talked about the past and revealed many behind-the-scenes stories, which bring back many fond memories.
Dutch graphic designer Ard Gelinck started the “Then & Now” series in 2017, creating celebrity side-by-side images by combining their old and recent photos with photoshop. It also includes the six prominent cast members of “Friends”: Jennifer Aniston (as Rachel Green), Courteney Cox (as Monica Geller), Lisa Kudrow (as Phoebe Buffay), Matt LeBlanc (as Joey Tribbiani), David Schwimmer (as Chandler Bing), and Matthew Perry (as Ross Geller). These images demonstrate how do they look at different ages. Which one is your favorite?
